alfresco tomcat does not start up when installed using installer

How do I see the tomcat logs and any other relevant logs for my alfresco instance. I have setup alfresco using the alfresco installer - version 5.2.3. My alfresco tomcat does not start up and I am not sure how to find out what the issue could be?

I am not using any virtual drives ,so my installation should be very simple as per the documentation

Can someone also tell me what all logs should I check for errors when alfresco tomcat starts up? any log locations you can share will help

look for <Installdir>/tomcat/logs/catalina.out - maybe you have a port collision on your system. Tomcat uses Port 8080 by default...
