Can I specify a Date for a Cutoff step in a Record Retention schedule

I can specify X number of days, months, years, and so on for a time period before I cutoff a record in Alfresco Records Management.  We have a cutoff date that is a fixed point in the future for a kind of record, like 12/31/2025, regardless of when the record is declared.  Is there a way to specify that?

Some ways I think we COULD do it are:

 - Create a custom event, and have a job complete the events of all the records that are affected on the set date

 - Do something with a rule on the category that resets all newly 'created' retention dates 

Are there other ways to approach this?

We are using RM 2.7 and Alfresco 5.2.4.
