Hej-hej,
we are running Alfresco Community 7.0 (from https://github.com/Alfresco/alfresco-docker-installer) successfully and I know one can set rules for project Sites as well (https://docs.alfresco.com/content-services/community/using/content/rules/) to trigger certain task, I guess to being notified by email is possible as well in this manner, I’ve not checked yet.
But by default, I wonder when the mail notification system is sending info upon activities and when not (if it is activated of course). My questions:
1. Do private Sites generate mail notifications by default?
2. What kind of Sites generate mail notifications by default ?
3. Is there a way to get notified of private Sites by mail notification (perhaps setting extra rules to a Site) ?
Thank you for letting me know,
Bye Andreas

yes, you can use "Send email" action from rules to send emails depending on use case. Activity feed is generated for public site and not for private and moderated sites i believe, but not completely sure.
Hopefully someone may be able to provide more insights on activity feeds so wait for others to respond.
Activity feed is generated for any type of sites, including private / moderated. But of course the activity feed is filtered by the permissions on the elements for which an activity was recorded, so there may be far fewer notifications sent out due to activity feed elements.
Ask for and offer help to other Alfresco Content Services Users and members of the Alfresco team.
