http://mydomain:8080/share unable to connect, log files are not updated

i am working on alfresco 5.1 and tomcat 7 installed on linux server and alfresco share web client doesnt work at all. When i call http://mydomain:8080/share it give the following error

Unable to connect

Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at mydomain:8080.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

And also i have observed that the log files have stopped updating. What could i have done wrong and where can i rectify this error

I have done the above suggestions by the Firefox browser but still at large.
