Good afternoon,
Currently I have an alfresco install in our environment running on Windows server 2008. I want to move it over to Linux. I have tried this a couple times in the past and always run into the same roadblock. When I attempt to log into the alfresco share for the first time the administrator password doesn't work. I have even gone so far as to start completely from scratch with a new Cent OS 6.2 install, and installed Alfresco making absolutely sure I am typing in the administrator password correctly. It makes no difference the administrator account will fail to log in every time. I have to assume that running on Cent OS is a pretty standard thing to do, so what could be causing this issue on a completely clean install?

Figured out my issue. This will probably be totally obvious to those of you used to Linux, but I am still a beginner.
After reviewing the log files I realized that when Alfresco/Tomcat was starting it was not able to resolve it's own hostname (in my case alfresco.localdomain). In order to resolve the issue I added a new line in the host file pointing 127.0.0.1 to alfresco.localdomain. I then started the services and everything worked as expected.
I realize this is an amateur mistake, but hopefully if any other noobies run into the same issue this will help them out.
