Updating Alfresco community 5.0 to 5.1

Good day All,

Please I am trying to carry out an upgrade of Alfresco community 5.0 to 5.1, the steps I followed are stated below:

1. Stop Tomcat server on exisiting Alfresco community 5.0, leave only Postgres running

2. Use pgAdmin3 to carry out AlfrescoDB back up to a folder

3. Move alf_data of existing Alfresco community 5.0 to same folder as AlfrescoDB back up

4. Install new Alfresco community 5.1

5. make sure everything is working

6. Stop tomcat server in new Alfresco community 5.1, leave only Postgres server running  

7. Use pgAdmin3 to restore AlfrescoDB from backup folder

8. Stop tomcat and Postgres server

9. move alf_data from backup folder to new Alfresco community 5.1

10. Start Tomcat and Postgres server

The challenge now is, when point number 10 is executed Tomcat server and Postgres server still remain "stopped" instead of "running".

Please can anyone go through my steps and tell me what I am missing.

If you used the installer on the same machine, probably now you have two different server installations for both PostgreSQL and Tomcat. Check if you are using the correct instance for both of them.

Anyway, it would be great to see some logs written by Tomcat or the related service that you are using for starting the Alfresco instance.
