Peter Löfgren

This is a brief interview in our series of Community Spotlights.

Where do you work?

Loftux

How and when did you first start working with Alfresco?

I was working as a system architect for Hummingbird when Open Text bought the company. With that they closed local offices in Sweden, and I was offered to retrain on Open Text products and work as a consultant. But I had found a way more cool product, Alfresco, and have since fall 2007 worked full time with Alfresco. First with Redpill Linpro and since 2010 with my own company Loftux AB. So my career as ECM consultant that began in 1998 continues.

What is your favorite way to contribute to the Alfresco community?

There are two part of this. One is coding or helping with localization, creating something that extends the value of the core Alfresco product. And here I'm very proud of the Swedish language pack that I think is one of the most up to date language packages not part of core Alfresco, and its been available since version 2 of Alfresco.

The second part is being active in helping others. This can be in the forums, irc or by writing blog posts. I used to be very active in the forum, but have recently switched to irc, the reason is the more immediate feedback, both when helping out and asking for help.

What does the Alfresco community mean to you?

Everything, a software product without Community is like visiting a museum without a guide. You watch and appreciate, but do not learn the details and get involved. And then move on.

What's something you wish someone would have told you when you first got started with Alfresco?

I was actually very aware of what it meant. But I wish I would have discovered the benefits of Open Source earlier in my consulting career.

What do you do when you aren't working on Alfresco projects?

Currently I'm hooked with my all ev (electric vehicle) Nissan Leaf. So I try to get every chance to drive the car. 100% electronic document management, I just had to go 100% electric on my car.
