Debug API call - sql statement

We have ACS 7.1 version and while running some API calls, we see the runtimes going over 2-3 minutes. We do have a huge database (over 1TB) and suspect sql queries take long time to return. Is there a way , we can debug the sql that gets run during an API call and get the time it takes to return results?

Is there a package where we can add logger and expose all sqls running and time they require to complete?

It's a better approach to use DB Tools for that purpose. What DB Engine are you using?

We are using mysql 8.x version on AWS. We have tried to check on the slow queries but not getting any definite answers from DBAs. If somehow we can expose sqls being fired from ACS, that would help to trace which requests take longer time.

Not sure if this is related but wanted to share an experience, we have seen similar issue with mysql in the past with a large repository (based out of 5.2) where queries were often slow and ends in deadlocks. Nothing helped even after several config changes and db side changes And we decided to move from MySql to postgresql after discussion with Alfresco support. . And that move fixed these issues. Alfresco recommends to prefer Postgresql compared to mysql.
