Project Lead: Jeff Potts

Project Title: Alfresco Developer Series Tutorials Upgrade & Markdown Transformer

Aim of Project: For the Alfresco Developer Series Tutorials Upgrade, the goal was to get them upgraded to the latest version of the SDK. These tutorials are a very popular way for developers to get introduced to the platform, so it is important that they be up-to-date.

The goal of the Markdown Transformer was to add Markdown support to Alfresco so that you can do Markdown-to-HTML transformations.

Project Outcome: Yes, both goals were achieved. The tutorials can be viewed at https://ecmarchitect.com/alfresco-developer-series.

The Markdown Transformer has been tested on both 5.2 and 6.2. It installs as a repository-tier AMP. The source code is available at https://github.com/jpotts/alfresco-markdown-transformer.  If there is interest I will push the artifacts to Maven Central to make them easier to include in projects as a dependency.

To do: On the Markdown Transformer, maybe there are other Markdown features that could be added to Alfresco for full Markdown support. For example, a GUI editing widget.

HIghlighting that Hackthon is not just about the code, Jeff said it was really good to see folks from the Alfresco Community again, especially without an in-person event.
